Privacy Policy

The short version
BrickBudget is a free tool for browsing LEGO® catalogue data and comparing prices across stores. We built it to need as little of your data as possible:
- No accounts. You don't sign up or log in, and we never ask for a name, email, or password to use the site.
- No personal data collected by us. The parts and sets you add, and your currency/store preferences, are saved only in your browser's local storage — not on our servers.
- No ad tracking or profiling. We use Google Analytics to see how the site is used overall, but no advertising networks, cross-site trackers, or personal profiles.
- Uploads aren't kept. Files you import are read once to match parts, then discarded.
Who we are
BrickBudget is operated by an individual based in Portugal (the "operator"). For anything in this policy, or to make a data-protection request, contact us at support@brickbudget.com. For the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the operator is the data controller for the limited processing described below.
What we collect, and where it lives
Data you enter — stored only in your browser
Your budget (LEGO set/part identifiers and quantities) and your preferences (selected
currency and preferred stores) are saved in your browser's local storage on your own device, under keys such as bb_budget, bb_currency, bb_main_provider and bb_extra_providers. This information is not
sent to us for storage and is not linked to any identity. You can erase it at any time by
clearing your browser's site data for BrickBudget.
Prices & imports — processed, not stored
To show live prices we send the identifiers in your budget to our server, which looks them up in our read-only catalogue and returns the prices to your browser. When you import a parts-list file, it is parsed in memory to match parts and then discarded — we do not keep the file, its contents, or the results on our servers.
Technical logs — handled by our host
Like any website, requests to BrickBudget are processed by our hosting provider (Vercel), which may record standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages requested. This is used only to operate and secure the service; we do not use it to build a profile of you.
We do not collect names, email addresses, payment details, or account credentials, because the site has none of those features.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics, a service provided by Google, to understand how visitors use BrickBudget in aggregate (for example, which pages are popular) so we can improve it. Google Analytics sets cookies and processes limited technical data — such as your IP address and device/browser information — on our behalf. We use it only for anonymous, aggregate statistics, never to identify you personally or to show ads. Google handles this data under its own privacy policy. You can opt out with Google's opt-out browser add-on, or by declining analytics wherever we ask for your consent.
Cookies & local storage
BrickBudget does not set advertising cookies. The main cookies involved are those set by Google Analytics to measure aggregate usage (see "Analytics" above). We use your browser's local storage (not cookies) purely to remember your budget and preferences on your device — this stays with you and is never transmitted for us to store. Where the law requires your consent for analytics cookies, we will ask for it.
Third parties
The outside services involved in running the site are:
- Vercel — hosting and delivery of the site (processes technical request data as described above).
- Google (Analytics) — measures aggregate site usage (see "Analytics" above).
- Supabase — the database that stores the LEGO catalogue and prices. It holds no personal data about you.
- Azure — serves product images to your browser.
Store & affiliate links. When you click a link to buy from a store (such as LEGO or another retailer), you leave BrickBudget and that store's own privacy policy applies. Some of these are affiliate links, meaning we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you — see our affiliate disclosure. We do not share your data with these stores; you simply follow a link.
Cart Helper browser extension
The BrickBudget Cart Helper is an optional browser extension that fills your LEGO.com cart from a budget you send it. It follows the same principles as the site:
- Your budget stays in your browser. When you click "Send to Cart Helper", the budget is handed to the extension locally and kept in the extension's own storage on your device. Its contents are never uploaded to us or anyone else.
- Anonymous, opt-in usage analytics. With your consent, the extension sends anonymous usage events (for example, that a budget was received, or that "Auto add all" was used) to Google Analytics so we can see how it's used and improve it. It shares the same analytics choice you make on this site — accept or reject analytics on brickbudget.com and the extension follows suit; otherwise it asks you once in its side panel. It sends no personal data and none of your budget contents — only aggregate counts and a random, per-install identifier that isn't linked to you. You can change the choice anytime from the side panel.
- Where it connects. Apart from the anonymous analytics above, the extension talks only to the LEGO.com pages you open while shopping and to the BrickBudget page you press "Send" on. It has no account and no advertising or cross-site trackers.
- Affiliate links. When the extension opens a LEGO.com page for an item, it uses the same affiliate links as the site — see our affiliate disclosure.
Removing the extension (or clearing its data from the side panel) erases everything it stored.
Your rights & choices
Because we don't hold accounts or a personal profile about you, most of your data never leaves your device and you control it directly by clearing your browser storage. Where GDPR or similar laws (such as the California CCPA) apply, you still have rights to access, correct, or erase any personal data we might process (for example, in technical logs or via analytics), and to object to that processing. We do not sell personal information. To exercise any of these rights, email support@brickbudget.com.
Other details
Children
BrickBudget is a general-audience tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
International processing
Our hosting runs in the United States, and Google Analytics may process data outside your country. If you use the site from the EU/EEA, the limited technical data described above is handled under appropriate safeguards by these providers.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site evolves (for example, if we change how analytics or affiliate links work). We'll revise the "last updated" date above when we do.
